This is the introduction to an edited collection of articles originally written as part of an autobiographical series, but never formally published in the UK.

While they represent the thoughts and memories of one ex-Brat, now long resident in the United States, to a great extent they probably reflect the experiences of many of his fellow ex-Brats of the 47th Entry.

I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did in putting these thoughts on paper.
